With the revelation of the iWatch at the Flint Centre of Performing Arts, Apple has stamped its entry into the smartwatch vertical market that was previously dominated by its primary rivals like Samsung and Sony. The iWatch will essentially act as a health, fitness and activity monitor while also giving you the joy of interacting with a wearable computer. It has a spinning dial at the side of the watch that allows the wearer to zoom in and navigate through various apps on display.

The watch allows you to directly connect and communicate with the iPhones. The screen has the much renowned water resistant Sapphire Display, a hallmark in most of Apple smartphones. It is also enabled with a GPS positioning system so that you can easily find your way out when you find yourself lost somewhere. A Taptic feedback system will make the watch vibrate automatically to alert you about any new notifications.

The iWatch will come in different finishes- Stainless Steel, Silver Aluminium, 18-Karat Gold, Space Black Stainless Steel, Space Grey Aluminium, and 18-Karat Rose Gold; and in three different editions- Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition. Moreover, the straps will be available in a variety of colours and features such as a magnetic strap, a sweat resistant strap and a resin encapsulated strap for extra durability. The iWatch is priced at $349.

The iPhones and the iWatch are the latest additions to Apple’s enviable and long list of cutting edge technologies combined with aesthetic design. With these new triumphs, Apple has added more feathers to its hat. Surely, Steve Jobs’ legacy lives on in Apple’s history defining products.
