Apple’s iPhone has been quite a rage since its inception, every year Apple launched its new iPhone products with added features and better system. So iPhone has better camera with more mega pixels which lets you click pictures with better clarity and more prominent focus. It also has in its store many apps which you will not find in any other system such as Windows or Android. Its price may be a bit higher in compared to other phones, but the features and the services it offers you in turn is actually worth the price. Check How to Backup iPhone guide below.

Mobile phones are no must have in your daily lives; It is one the basis of this that you build our digital lives. But phones are things we might get damaged or stolen or we might simply lose it. You might think that you continue to store pictures they are getting automatically getting backed up in iCloud. It actually does not, only 5 GB of the phone data is what gets backed up. So unless you have everything stored and stacked you are likely to lose them.

How to Back Up iPhone or iPad?

However if you back up your files, then it probably means that no matter what happens your phones will stay protected. There are four options for backing up your iPhone which are:

  • iCloud
  • iTunes
  • Online Storage options
  • Layered Backup

Backup Solutions:

The first backup solution for iPhone always is iCloud. But to do that you have to turn the feature on. These are the steps you need to follow when you turn on iCloud Backup:

  • Connect to your Wi-Fi network
  • Tap on Settings, then go to iCloud and then to Backup.
  • Turn on iCloud Backup if it already not turned up.
  • You need to be on a Wi-Fi connection when you do this, and then you need to tap on Back Up now.
  • Check your back up and see whether everything is getting backed up or not by going to Settings, then iClouds, then Storage and then to manage storage and then you can select your device. You will see your latest backup listed.

The first 5 GB of the storage in iCloud is free, but if you want more paces and extend more 5 GB then you do need to pay a monthly fee. For 50 GB you would need to pay $0.99 per month. For 200 GB the cost goes up a bit to $2.99 per month. And for an extra space of 1 TB Apple charges $9.99 per month. These prices at a glance may not look that much, but when compared to other online data services then it is significantly higher. Photos take up most of the space, so if you want to back up your photos you have to select the first 1000 pictures from my photo Stream and it will not be counted in the My Photo Stream and they will not be included in your storage space. Nowadays, iPhones have up to storage up to 128 GB of data, so with that and 5 GB of iCloud you might not need more extra space.

After iCloud, the place where anyone would store the most is iTunes. But to use iTunes as your backup unit you must have a PC or Mac computer where there is a pre running iTunes.  Then you can connect your phone with the computer through Wi-Fi or any other connecting device with a USB cord or any other connecting devices. If you want to backup via iTunes you need to follow these steps:

  • Open iTunes
  • Connect your iPhone to your computer
  • Click on File, and then go to devices, click on Backup or backup for now from summary page.

If you follow this method then you can back up everything from photos, videos, text messages, and application data from your phone to computer. Unlike iClouds, iTunes is free as well. Still there are a few things you need to remember when you use this method:

  1. You need to remember to do backup always because it is a manual operation and automatic as well, it will overall take a few minutes only but you need to do that by taking initiative from your part. Do not turn off the data in between.
  2. You need to have a lot of space on your computer’s hard drive to store this backup of iPhone.

The third storage option for you is the online storage options. This application syncs all your information from your iPhone to that of cloud. These applications are a bit less costly in comparison to iCloud. Later if you want to switch over to Android and not continue with Apple then also you will get all your information intact and nothing will be lost. However, they do not backup text messages, voicemail, settings, applications, application data, and other things you only use on your phone. You can also access your back up files through any devices if they are connected to the internet. Some of the online storage devices which are most well-known are: Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive, Amazon Cloud Drive, and Dropbox.

Conclusion:

By now, you probably have understood why it is important to back up your data from your phone to the various storage units that you get. You need to back up your text messages regularly otherwise you might end up losing up all the messages. However, if you store all of those documents you can retrieve them when and as you like.

If you have all the data backed up then you would not need to set up your iOS device, you also will not need to download all of your apps because going through the entire process of setting up and organizing might be a tedious process. If you sync your data regularly then you should consider doing so in your iTunes, if you do not do regularly then consider doing it at least once in a week now. However, it is advisable to use both iTunes and iCloud as your backup option.
